The Gift of Being Seen is a portrait project inspired by a simple wish – to connect and truly witness people. Through live hand-drawn portraits, I capture more than a likeness, the quiet presence, the emotion, the story beneath the surface. It’s a way of saying: I see you.

It all began in a small Spanish village, Oliete. While walking through the streets with my supplies, I wanted to connect with the locals through my art. One by one, I drew their portraits, and after a few weeks organized an exhibition to share them. The joy and surprise on their faces sparked the beginning of the project. From there, it traveled to other villages, nursing homes and Zagreb Airport, offering travelers a quiet moment of art and a memory that carries Croatia into the world – nearly 200 souls drawn live over two years.

Each portrait becomes a personal memory, a gentle gesture of presence, and a piece of Croatian art traveling beyond its origin. With a gentle awareness, I notice what often goes unseen – and through drawing, I make it visible.
